Gilsonite History
Gilsonite history would be about two Countries Iran and the united states in Iran, mines of Gilsonite has discovered about 80 years ago in the west of Iran but nobody knew what is the exact usage of this material that we are calling Gilsonite today.
The local people who were living behind these Gilsonite mines every day were watching black rocks coming to the surface of the earth they really look like Coal but they are not burning like Caol and some of them were using them for fire-making but the remained materials after burning was not like the ash of Coal after burning.
Finally, by researching of Mines engineers and doing some analysis tests on those black rocks they found that it is mineral Bitumen and it has exactly the quality and analysis that was discovered in the USA about 100 years ago.
Gilsonite is called Natural Asphalt too because this is natural bitumen or asphalt but it is produced in the earth, not in petroleum refineries.
As we mentioned Gilsonite is black and looks like Coal but has much different and is more useful than Coal.
Gilsonite is created by the evaporation of Crude oil but the Coal is created from the wood of jungle trees.
So according to these differences, their uses are different too and nobody ever will use mineral bitumen to make fire but the main usage of Coal is for making fire from many years ago as we all can remember in old trains and Boilers.
Gilsonite has a petrochemical base and has a solubility in petroleum solvents, Gilsonite is like Bitumen but in solid mode and has no penetration and can use in powder mode in different industries like Ink, Drilling Mud, Drilling fluids, Bitumen production, Foundry, Asphalt productions, and,…
The main uses of Gilsonite are in bitumen and coating industries because it can mix with bitumen and raw materials of Bitumen for producing different grades of Bitumen.
Aras Petrochemical Company as a Global supplier of natural asphalt with the most experience in exporting mineral bitumen has the ability to supply clients from all over the world with any grade of Natural asphalt with different applications.
